He is a co-founder of OncoImmune and led the company until its acquisition by Merck. Dr. Liu’s research in cancer immune recognition and lymphocyte activation is internationally recognized, with lymphocytes being the primary immune defenders against cancer. He has been awarded the Markey Scholar Award (1992), the Sears Scholar Award (1993), and the Snyder Cancer Research Award (2015), and was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in 2004 for his pioneering contributions to innate immunity, T-cell co-stimulation, and cancer immunology. Dr. Liu obtained his Ph.D. from the Australian National University and completed his postdoctoral training at Yale University. Prior to serving full-time as the CEO of OncoC4, Dr. Liu held faculty positions at several academic institutions, including New York University, The Ohio State University, Children’s National Medical Center, and the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
